Coffee County Library in Manchester, TN

Michael Cooper • October 30, 2025

This one took a little longer than I originally planned. Seems that it takes FOREVER to hand-paint a library’s worth of books! We travelled back and forth daily to Manchester, TN., to paint murals on the exterior of the Coffee County Library. An absolutely fun project! Been in the works for a while, just trying to get the designs approved, and then waiting for other projects to be completed so that we could dedicate our time to all of these walls!

Shout out to the crew: Crystal Yates, Andrew Douglas and Emily Adams. They did an absolutely fabulous job under some hot, wet and windy conditions! (I swear that Manchester has a micro-climate. It could be fabulous here in Franklin, and pouring at the library. You just never knew how the weather would be!)

Everybody so far has their own favorite wall, so I’d love to hear yours. Enjoy!

We’ve painted quite a few of these around the state, as UT wants to have one in every county in Tennessee. Keep your eyes open - they’re everywhere, and on all kinds of structures! You never know where you’re gonna see one!

Nice-sized logo on the side of a VERY large building! Of course, we always love painting on corrugated aluminum - much better than a simple flat surface. (This is me being very sarcastic!)
Mural of people playing golf on a green course, with a building and sunset backdrop.

This is another canvas project that we designed and painted for e|spaces, located in Cool Springs in Williamson County, just south of Nashville. The design highlights a number of different world headquarters that are based in Franklin, as well as numerous music/sports celebrities that actually reside in Williamson County. Even the golf course is local! Can you figure out who is who? Have you played golf on the course? #muralsandmorellc #interiormurals #canvasmurals #golfmurals #trompeloeilmurals #willaimsoncounty #coolsprings #franklintn #murals

Fun project for Paragon Mills Elementary School. A whole lot of lettering going on! Cool design, with great colors. The kids love it! #muralsandmorellc #handpaintedgraphics #schoolmurals #paragonmills #schoollogos #schoolmascots

I love painting bridges! We actuallly started talking about working with the Sylvan Park Neighborhood Association over two years ago. They found out the hard way that CSX likes to take their sweet time giving approval to paint on their nasty retaining walls. We were interviewed and selected to paint these ugly surfaces, with colors and designs created by local Sylvan Park artist @Audry Deal-McEver. Special shout-out to Jenny Komoll, who spearheaded the entire endeavor. It really turned out well! Looking forward to the next hair-raising project, dodging trains, bugs, spiders, and speeding errant Nashville drivers! Too much fun! #muralsandmorellc #nashvillemurals #bridgemurals #exteriormurals #sylvanpark #flowermurals

Wow. This one was non-stop. Seven hour drive. Two weeks. Only got rained out a couple of times. A little wall in Wilkesboro, NC. Ok, 40’h x 90’w. A company in Ohio did the design, wanted to know if we could paint it for them. Sure! No problem! Yeah, but we want it now. So…rescheduled a few things, and off to the races! (Sorry. That was too easy.) Thanks to Liz Michalski, Crystal Yates, newbie Allie Johnson, and not-so-newbie Brad Lewis! (And a special thanks to Mickie Cooper, for putting up with us being gone for so long!) #mural #exteriormural #wilkesboro #wilkesboronc #muralsandmorellc

This project is probably the second largest we’ve ever done, relative to actual square footage. We had to paint custom graphics and signage on the exterior of a massive condo complex in the Wedgewood/Houston area of Nashville. Not only was it seven stories high, but it was on a heavily corrugated metal surface! Lots of “chevrons”, angles, numbers and letters, specified to be painted in all of the weirdest places. We used 85’ and 125’h articulated lifts, 45’ scissor lifts, and multiple widths of swing stages. Some of the letters were 30’h! We painted three coats on all of the white graphics on the green surfaces. The only dark paint used was for the name of the complex, which is “The Finery”. Lots of really hot days, dead in the sun, tons of wind, rain, etc., but we finished after about 3 weeks. Not too shabby!

The client lives in basically a one bedroom condo. She wanted it to look bigger. So…how about a door with a marble staircase leading up to the second floor? Sure! Why not?! Too much fun with Trompe L’oeil!
